چکیده
Surface mounted permanent magnet Vernier (SPM-V) machines, because of their high torque density and multi-pole structure, are promising candidates for low-speed direct-drive applications. To achieve density, the SPM-V machines generally designed with gear ratios. Therefore, operating frequencies can be much higher than those conventional SPM machines. This potentially increases alternating current (AC) winding losses, especially form-wound coils proposed high-power article investigates AC losses (including skin effect, proximity rotor PM induced, circulating losses) in stator a 3 MW machine different slot/pole number combinations. The study reveals that have significantly counterparts similar conditions. reduce novel flux shunt concept is along other techniques such as increasing turns/coil (with terminal voltage being kept constant) parallel strands/turn, providing extra clearance at slot opening. With loss reduction implemented, comparable efficiency but counterparts. Moreover, was also found to very effective reducing potential risk (PM) irreversible demagnetization, key issue power ratings.

This paper presents the influences of winding magneto-motive force (MMF) harmonics on the torque characteristics in surface-mounted permanent magnet vernier (SPMV) machines. Based on the magnetic gearing effects, the armature magnetic field of the SPMV machines is modulated by flux modulation poles (FMPs). In the modulated magnetic field, a working harmonic which corresponds to the number of th...

This paper presents a novel approach to determine geometric shapes of flux modulation poles (FMPs) by using the analytical equations for flux density distribution due to armature windings. The magnetic field by the windings is modulated by the FMPs. Then, the resulting magnetic field produces the torque by interacting with the rotor permanent magnets (PMs). Thus, to improve the output power of ...

متن کاملAnalytical Calculation of Magnetic Field Distribution and Stator Iron Losses for Surface-Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines
Permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) are widely used in electric vehicles owing to many advantages, such as high power density, high efficiency, etc. Iron losses can account for a significant component of the total loss in permanent-magnet (PM) machines. Consequently, these losses should be carefully considered during the PMSM design. In this paper, an analytical calculation method has...
